Up your glute focussed step up game with these tips. Cable step ups are a staple in my leg workouts and they’re great for building glutes if they’re done correctly. HERES HOW ⬇️⬇️⬇️ (training plans available 🔗) ✅ Shoes off for balance (and respect): Better foot connection means more control of your movement. Plus, nobody wants your dirty shoes on the bench. ✅ Opposite hand, same leg: Hold the cable in the hand opposite your working leg. This creates rotation, core and more importantly great glute engagement. ✅ Control the descent: Don’t just step up and drop down. Focus on a slow, controlled step down. That’s where stability, strength, and muscle-building happens. ✅ Knee stays stacked: Your front knee should stay over your ankle. If you want your glutes to do the work, don’t let your knees past your toes because this will mean your quads will be taking over. ✅ Hinge forward: Lean your torso slightly, keep your core tight and hinge at the hips. This loads your glutes and keeps the effort in your front leg, not your back. ✅ Front leg does the work: Think about driving through your front foot. The back leg should soft tap the floor, not pushing off it to get you back up. ✅ Hold the cable uptright (gently): You’re holding it to stay stable, not to drag yourself up.
